Supporting Asylum Seekers and Immigrant Families Fund

About

Since the inception of the 'zero tolerance' policy earlier this year, many families have been separated at the US-Mexico border, with children being taken away from their parents and put into areas and situations they are unfamiliar with. This Fund is comprised of pre-vetted nonprofits providing support to those who are seeking asylum and safety. We have initially selected organizations that work to support and reunite the families who have been put in this incredibly difficult situation. The composition of nonprofits in this fund is subject to change as we learn more about the needs on the ground.

The Texas Civil Rights Project is a group of Texas-based lawyers working to advance the civil rights of the state's most vulnerable populations. In addition to aiding border-related cases, they also have projects focused on criminal justice reform, voting rights, and racial and economic justice

The Young Center For Immigrant Childrens Rights

The Young Center for Immigrant Children's Rights works to support and champion the rights of unaccompanied immigrant children. It works on a three step program that prioritizes serving the children as soon as they enter the country, advocating for their rights, and standing for the creation of a more comprehensive immigration system that protects children's rights.

AsylumWorks

The Asylum Seeker Advocacy Project (ASAP) works to prevent unlawful deportations by connecting refugees or refugee families with legal aid. ASAP provides "rapid representation at a distance," and reports that it has represented refugees in 25 different states. Join us as we work to ensure that all persons fleeing persecution are given a chance to reach their full potential and contribute to their new community.

Amnesty International USA

Our vision is of a world in which every person – regardless of race, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation or gender identity – enjoys all of the human rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) and other internationally recognized human rights standards. The UDHR states that the "the recognition of the inherent dignity and of the equal and inalienable rights" of all people is "the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world."

Tahirih Justice Center

The Tahirih Justice Center is a national, non-profit organization that supports immigrant survivors of gender-based violence seeking safety and justice. Our interdisciplinary model of service combines free legal services, social services case management, with bridge-building policy advocacy, and training and education. We amplify the voices of survivors in communities, courts, and Congress to create a world where everyone can live in safety and with dignity.
