Imagine if...

Equal rights and equal pay were guaranteed to everyone everywhere.

Meet Sustainable Development Goal 5

Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.

Why this cause needs your support

Empowering women and girls can lift entire communities, help with economic growth and development, and even bolster health outcomes. of adults in the world who cannot read are women.

The goal of this fund is to achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.

To accomplish this goal, this Fund is supporting the following strategies

Equal Rights and Equal Pay

Reforms are needed to give women equal rights to economic resources, as well as access to ownership and control over land and other forms of property, financial services, and inheritances. The wage gap should be eliminated, and greater value placed on unpaid care and domestic work. Greater protections for LGBTQIA+ are necessary around the world.

Technovation is a science, engineering, and technology education nonprofit organization that empowers underrepresented young people to become self-motivated learners, inventors, and leaders. Since 2006, more than 63,000 children, parents, mentors, and educators have participated in its two global programs: Technovation, the world’s largest global tech entrepreneurship program for girls, and Curiosity Machine, a unique, open-ended, project-based learning program that inspires students, families, and teachers to solve science and engineering problems together. Technovation has proudly trained more than 3,500 engineers and scientists to develop design challenges and/or mentor students and families. In recognition of its pioneering work for the collective impact in underserved communities,

Urgent Action Fund partners with women’s movements worldwide to support women’s human rights defenders striving to create cultures of justice, equality, and peace. We provide rapid response grants that enable strategic interventions, and participate in collaborative advocacy and research. We are led by activists, inspired by feminism, and strengthened through solidarity. Through Rapid Response Grantmaking, UAF can award rapid response grants to women and transgender human rights defenders in Central Asia, the Middle East, Western and Eastern Europe, the South Caucuses, Russia, Turkey, the United States, and Canada. Activists apply for grants of up to $8,000 USD in any language on any day of the year and are guaranteed a response within 72 hours. Additionally, UAF provides Advocacy & Alliance-Building by leveraging power as a funder to advocate for women and transgender human rights defenders. Lastly, UAF has Global Consortium of Urgent Action Funds, with UAF being one of four Urgent Action Funds. Together with sister funds -- Urgent Action Fund-Africa, Urgent Action Fund-Latin America, and Urgent Action Fund-Asia Pacific -- we collectively support gender justice and human rights movements globally.

Equality Now works to end violence and discrimination against women and girls around the world. Our main program areas of work are: Discrimination in Law, Sexual Violence, Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), and Trafficking. In partnership with grassroots groups, Equality Now raises international visibility of individual cases of abuse, mobilizes public support through its global membership, and wields strategic political pressure to ensure that governments enact or enforce laws and policies that uphold the rights of women and girls.

Shared Hope International strives to prevent the conditions that foster sex trafficking, restore victims of sex slavery, and bring justice to vulnerable women and children. We envision a world passionately opposed to sex trafficking and a community committed to helping survivors build lives of purpose, value, and choice – one life at a time. Shared Hope International works to coordinate a national U.S. network of protection to improve the response to victims of trafficking. We believe we can create a world where every survivor is surrounded by trained professionals, an alert community, just law and policy, knowledgeable service providers and appropriate shelter options.
